FAQs

How far from Acadia National Park are you?
We are just 2 miles from the main entrance to Acadia National Park. There are several entrances around Mount Desert Island where you can enter the Park, but this entrance features a vistor center.

Is there plenty of parking at Hanscom’s?
Yes, each guest has their own assigned spot right in front of your accommodation.  There is additional short term parking if you have visitors.

Can you swim in the ocean at the nearby beach?
Yes you can if you don’t mind 60 degree ocean water.  Bring proper footwear since it is a rocky beach.  If you prefer something a bit warmer, we keep our pool heated at 80 degree’s from the end of May thru Labor Day!

What is your pet policy?
We ask that you keep you pets on a leash, pick up any messes they may make on the property, and do not leave pets unattended in your accommodation.

Does the free Island Explorer Bus stop nearby?
Yes, it picks up and drops off customer’s right in front of our office every hour during operating times.

Do you provide linens?
Our cottages and units are full housekeeping daily.  We provide a clean set of towels each day, although it is recommended that you bring extra beach towels for recreation.

What is included in the kitchen?
2 – 4 burner stovetop, oak cabinetry, sink, microwave, under-counter refrigerator, coffee maker, complete cookware, and complete dishware.  Our picnic area has 3 stainless propane grills with all necessary utensils, and also a lobster cooker with pots.
